Marne market

Market

If you happen to be in Strasbourg on a Tuesday or Saturday morning, it's well worth taking a tour of the huge Marne Market.  In this traditional market, the stalls of fruit and vegetable merchants, butchers and dairy product sellers are mingled with clothes and shoes stands. It's the ideal spot to discover local produce.  Make sure that you avoid resellers - don't hesitate to ask the traders if they are selling their own produce, and look at the origin of the products.  If the names sound Alsatian, you're on to a winner! For the carnivores among you, there is an excellent trader who sells not only traditional chicken but also many varied grilled meats, such as whole rabbit cooked in its own fat or roasted duck. Everything is available at affordable prices (small chicken €8). Your task is to find it before lunch! And if you enjoy farmer's and artisan cheese, make straight for the yellow truck of the Adam dairy!
